No. 36 Sanna Bay, Highlands
"This is without doubt one of Britain's most secluded beaches, but it is worth the journey. The beach consists of an arc of soft, pristine white sand, which is as likely to be dotted with the footprints of local wildlife as it is with human footprints. As if to confirm the isolated feel of Sanna Bay, a short distance along the coast is the Point of Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point of the British mainland."

Mountaineering and Hill Climbing |
|
Ardnamurchan is a much neglected area for mountaineers and hill climbers but there are five summits here over 1000 feet which, as you can imagine, provide a magnificient viewing platform to take in the surrounding rugged land and seascapes. Ardnamurchan contains perfect rock in wild and remote settings.
Just over an hour away, Lochaber contains the biggest and best crags in the Uk offering a huge variety of climbing. Ben Nevis is home to some of the country's longest rock climbs of all standards but also offers winter climbing of international importance, including:-
- Ben Nevis, the best and most reliable winter climbing of all grades
- Glen Nevis, one of the best roadside rock climbing venues
- Glen Coe, containing the highest standard mountain routes
- Aonach Mor, the most accessible winter crag in Britain
- Perfect granite slab climbing in Glen Etive
- Remote, mid-grade winter climbs in the Mamores and Grey Corries
Whatever your level of expertise, you will find it in Ardnamurchan or Lochaber. |
