Ardnamurchan is just a short ferry ride across Loch Linnhe. Take the Corran Ferry (6 minute crossing, no booking required), 8 miles south of Fort William, on the A82 across to Ardgour. The ferry runs every half hour till 9.30pm and we would recommend you check the timetable for more exact times (see our links page). On leaving the ferry turn left on the A861 and stay on this road through Strontian to Salen.
For Honeysuckle Cottage At Salen, bear left and take the B8007 to Glenborrodale (7 miles). On reaching the village, pass the old primary school on the right hand side. After aprroximately ½ mile, you will drive over a small bridge at the lochside. You will see a sign on the right hand side for 'Ardnamurchan Farm'. Turn into this driveway and Honeysuckle Cottage is the first property on the right hand side. (Please note that the house has recently been repainted and is now white.)
For Caber Faidh Just 2.5 miles from the village of Acharacle. At Salen follow the A861 to Acharacle. Pass through the village and take the left hand turn (B8044) to Newton of Ardtoe. Follow the road for approximately 1.5 miles when you will see a red telephone box and a sign for 'Newton'. Turn into this road (with a 'No Through Road' sign) and Caber Faidh is the first house on the right hand side.

Ardnamurchan is a much neglected area for mountaineers and hill climbers but there are five summits here over 1000 feet which, as you can imagine, provide a magnificient viewing platform to take in the surrounding rugged land and seascapes. Ardnamurchan contains perfect rock in wild and remote settings.
Just over an hour away, Lochaber contains the biggest and best crags in the Uk offering a huge variety of climbing. Ben Nevis is home to some of the country's longest rock climbs of all standards but also offers winter climbing of international importance, including:-
- Ben Nevis, the best and most reliable winter climbing of all grades
- Glen Nevis, one of the best roadside rock climbing venues
- Glen Coe, containing the highest standard mountain routes
- Aonach Mor, the most accessible winter crag in Britain
- Perfect granite slab climbing in Glen Etive
- Remote, mid-grade winter climbs in the Mamores and Grey Corries
Whatever your level of expertise, you will find it in Ardnamurchan or Lochaber. |
