Birdwatching in Western Scotland PDF Print E-mail

Ardnamurchan provides a birdwatcher's paradise. So many birds live here or visit these parts including the oystercatcher, the sandpiper, the tawny owl and and even the golden eagle. Ornithologists regularly visit the peninsula due to the diverse habitats and abundant birdlife.

Bring your binoculars and look out for merlin, heron, gulls and guillemots, redstarts, buzzards, sea eagles and woodpecker; wagtails, greenshanks and corncrakes, sparrowhawks and willow warblers. Mull is just a short distance by ferry and well worth a visit for birdwatchers, especially the sea eagle centre.
