Accommodation and Holiday Cottages in Western Scotland

Ardnamurchan Natural History Centre PDF Print E-mail

A wonderful award-winning "living" building constructed to attract wildlife opened in April 2007 and allows wildlife to be viewed at close quarters. The large eaves encourage nesting birds, Red Deer graze the turf roof and pine marten sleep in the mammal boxes.

The centre, in conjunction with the RSPB, has set up a ground-breaking project allowing us to witness the Golden Eagle up close in its natural habitat. CCTV cameras, concealed in a hide, have been trained on a deer carcass in a nearby glen and will send live pictures of the birds feeding back to large screens at the centre in Glenborrodale. This exciting and innovative project is the first of its kind in Scotland. The Centre is definitely worth a visit to learn more about the area and the animals that live here; interactive games, underwater world loch and Wildcat Den plus wonderful tea room, gift and bookshops.
